Imagine creating a visually stunning short film, not in months but in just 5 days! What’s more, the cost? Barely 1% of what a traditional studio would charge. Sounds impossible? With the power of AI, I turned this into reality.

My short film, “Eating Sugar No Moma,” is an experimental project that showcases the incredible capabilities of AI in storytelling and filmmaking. In this blog, I’ll take you behind the scenes of this exciting journey, showing you how I turned 3,500+ prompts into a captivating 124-second film.

Whether you’re a content creator, 2D/3D artist, or VFX enthusiast, this blog will inspire you to explore how AI can revolutionize your creative process.

The story of “Eating Sugar No Moma” is a playful, dialogue-free narrative following a 4-year-old boy’s quest to reach a sugar bottle in the kitchen. It’s filled with humor, exaggerated gags, and visually rich storytelling—all crafted with AI tools. Why I have written inspired by a true story. The same thing happened when my 4 year old Son got Jaggery from the kitchen with lots of effort and my wife took it from him in a fraction of seconds. Same emotions I have tried to portray

This project started as a challenge. I enquired about it a year ago. Traditional studios estimated 45-60 days with a 12-person team and a budget of ₹2,00,000 to create the same story. Instead, I completed it with just a laptop, five AI tools, and little expenses.

While the output isn’t comparable to a full-fledged studio production, it’s proof that independent creators can achieve impressive results with minimal resources.

I relied on the following AI tools to bring this project to life:

  • MidJourney: For generating concept art and refining image iterations.

  • AI Animation Tools: RunwayML and Kling AI To convert images into animated sequences.

  • Prompt: Used some prompt generators and MidJourney image description features

These tools saved me countless hours and allowed me to focus on Storytelling.

💡 Pro Tip: AI tools are your creative partners. The better your input, the better their output.

1. Storyboarding

Storyboarding involves sketching each scene manually. So I have made some quick frames.

2. Generating Image Iterations

Over the course of 3,500+ prompts, I created 2,288 images that formed the building blocks of my film. AI allowed me to experiment with lighting, textures, and character designs at lightning speed.

3. Animation and Video Editing

Using AI animation tools, I stitched the images into smooth transitions. With 76 video iterations, I refined the sequences to create a cohesive narrative.

This experiment highlights the transformative power of AI in the creative world. Here’s why it’s a game-changer:

  • Empowerment: Creators can focus on storytelling while AI handles repetitive tasks.

  • Accessibility: In most cases with AI you don’t need a large team or expensive hardware.

  • Efficiency: AI tools dramatically reduce the time needed for production.

  • Kids’ series or animated features

AI isn’t here to replace creators—it’s here to amplify their potential.

The evolution of my film was a fascinating journey. Here’s a visual breakdown:
